- We use your resume to build your match profile. We do not send your resume to employers or recruiters.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show advertising.
- Your resume file is stored privately. It is not publicly accessible by URL.
- You can ask us to delete your account and everything in it, and we will.
- We use a small number of processors to run the service. They are all named below.
1. Who we are
Uphook is a job matching service operated from Kolkata, India. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use uphook.ai, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

2. What we collect

Information we generate
When we run a match, we record which roles were shown to you, in what order, and the component scores behind each one. We use this to diagnose bad matches and improve ranking. It is tied to your account.
If you sign in with Google
We receive your email address and, where available, your name. We do not request or receive access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts, or any other Google service.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for your date of birth, gender, caste, religion, government identifiers such as Aadhaar or PAN, or payment details. Please do not include identifiers of that kind in your resume. If your resume happens to contain them, we do not use them for matching, but they will sit in the stored file until you delete it.
3. How we use it
- To read your resume and build your match profile.
- To compare that profile against active roles and rank them by fit.
- To explain a match to you, including which skills you have and which you are missing.
- To send you the job alerts you have opted into, and service messages such as sign-in links.
- To improve matching quality, investigate bugs, and keep the service secure and working.
We do not use your data to train general-purpose AI models, and we do not permit our processors to train their models on it.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not send your resume to employers or recruiters.
We use these processors to run the service. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job.

We will also disclose data if we are legally required to, for example under a valid order from a court or authority with jurisdiction over us.
5. Where it is stored
Your account data, profile and resume are stored in a database hosted in India (Mumbai region). Some processors listed above operate outside India, so certain processing, particularly resume text extraction and embedding, happens on servers abroad. By using Uphook you accept that transfer.
6. How long we keep it
- Your account, profile and resume are kept while your account is open.
- If you delete your account, we delete your profile, your preferences and your resume file. Allow up to 30 days for removal from backups.
- We may keep match diagnostics in a form that is no longer linked to you, so that deleting your account does not corrupt our quality measurements.
7. Security
- Resume files sit in a private storage bucket. They are not reachable by guessing a URL. Access is granted through short-lived signed links generated only for you.
- Database access is restricted per row, so one account cannot read another account's data.
- Traffic is encrypted in transit.
- We sign you in with a one-time link or Google, so there is no password of yours for us to lose.
No service can promise perfect security. If we ever suffer a breach affecting your personal data, we will tell you and the relevant authority as required by law.
8. Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and comparable laws elsewhere, you can ask us to:
- Show you what personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your account and the data in it.
- Withdraw a consent you previously gave, such as alerts.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights if you cannot.
Email nitin@uphook.ai and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Cookies
We use cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences between visits. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Blocking essential cookies will stop sign-in from working.
10. Children
Uphook is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
